Robert F. Berry, Jr.
6/30/2004
Bob Berry, father of Noah and husband of
Ann, died peacefully at home Wednesday, June 30 at the age of
56.
Bob was as an Apprentice Graduate at NASA Langley Research
Center. His multi-faceted 38-year career doing industrial
inspection at NASA Langley touched all aspects of the center’s
operations. He was involved in non-destructive evaluation of
research aircraft and facilities, materials research and space
flight projects stretching back prior to the first Space Shuttle
flight. His career culminated in work on the Columbia Accident
Investigation and subsequent Space Shuttle Return to Flight
activities. Bob held four US patents and numerous individual and
group awards for technical achievement.
Bob took great pride in the accomplishments of his wife and son.
Like his Dad, Bob served in the US Army. He enjoyed shooting and
his work with the American Tactical Shooting Association in
Harrisburg, PA. He was an avid woodworker and amateur
blacksmith. Bob loved to travel, especially to the American
Southwest.
In addition to Noah and Ann, Bob is survived by his mother,
Bessie Rowe Berry, and other family members. Bob will be sorely
missed by his family and many supportive friends across the
country.
Bob requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of
contributions to the Jamestown Rediscovery Conservation Lab, c/o
APVA, 204 West Franklin St, Richmond, VA 23220. Arrangements by
Hogg Funeral Home in Hayes.
